Website Background Videos

The use of a background video for your website can add some flare to an otherwise stale page. The immediate motion can dictate the look and feel of a page in a positive way. It has the power to engage your customers and show off your brand quickly and with ease.

Take a look at our recent work with the Daniel’s College of Business MBA program, The Denver MBA.

Website background videos should be visually ambient. In other words, they are not meant to be watched in their entirety. They should be viewed as a sort of decoration that shows of your brand in a more subtle way than a fully fleshed out video with a voice over and a soundtrack. Ideally, customers will feel your brand and be willing to navigate the rest of the site at their leisure. These videos will be constantly looping and set to auto-play as people visit the site.

Visual style is crucial with a website background. This is the perfect place to show off the beauty or cool-factor of the exterior or interior of your office site. Maybe you have a sign or equipment you can highlight to impress customers. I highly recommend the use of crane shots and/or drone shots. Cranes and drones will show off angles and motion that can really wow an audience. These are shots you simply cannot get with a standard tripod and even the most casual viewer can recognize this. This type of video is meant to impress, so get as fancy as you want and don’t worry about giving the customer any type of narrative. The point is to immediately impress people and encourage them to delve deeper into your website.

Since it will be on a loop, it’s not really important how long the video ends up being. Somewhere between 20-45 seconds will probably get the job done. The website background video can add style and professionalism to a webpage. If done correctly, it will make you proud and excited to show off your site.
